The Philadelphia Flyers remain in search for a new head coach while they watch some of the top names come off the board.
Who's left for the Flyers besides Scott Gordon?
Sam Carchidi of Philly.com put together his list of the top remaining candidates and some might surprise you.
Cardidi did include Gordon on the list and he's joined by former Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators coach Guy Boucher who coached Sean Couturier in junior at Drummondville of the QMJHL.
He's also got former heated rival Dan Bylsma who of course was coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins while Peter Laviolette was coach of the Flyers. Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher actually hired Bylsma to take on the Penguins AHL team in 2008-09.
Former Flyers' defenseman and current Montreal Canadiens' assistant coach Luke Richardson is mentioned. Richardson has been an assistant for the Islanders and Senators as well. The Canadiens' players gave Richardson lots of credit for helping tighten up their defensive system this year.
Former Flames, Sharks, Blackhawks and Kings coach Darryl Sutter is on Carchidi's list but it's hard to imagine the Flyers going with Sutter who's known for getting in players' faces.
Dave Tippett who's currently working with the soon to be Seattle franchise is a former Jack Adams award winner. Like Richardson, Tippett has played for the Flyers before but it might be hard to pry him out of his new comfy position.
The final name on Carchidi's list might be the most interesting in Alain Vigneault. Vigneault is off to Europe to coach Team Canada and is tied for 12th in NHL history in wins from his time behind the bench in Montreal, Vancouver and New York. Vigneault will have Dave Hakstol as one his assistants in Slovakia for the tournament and has brought two teams to the Stanley Cup finals.
Which of these names would you like to see behind the Flyers bench?
