With Ron Hextall now a thing of the past for the Philadelphia Flyers organization, the secrets seem to be coming out.
There's been lots of chatter that upper management wanted head coach Dave Hakstol fired, but Hextall refused.
In the end that looks like it's exactly what put the final nail in Hextall's coffin.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Flyers CEO Dave Scott revealed that as soon as Joel Quenneville was fired, his name was discussed and eventually brought to Hextall to get the ball rolling.
Hextall refused and wanted to stick to his plan.
That plan meant sticking with the rookie coach instead of jumping on the opportunity of hiring the second most winningest coach in league history.
With Hextall out of the picture, will the Flyers now make a run for Quenneville?
