The Philadelphia Flyers are mired in a nine-game losing streak which is leaving everyone involved searching for the answers.
The Flyers fans who were in attendance for Tuesday night’s 3-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks had their answer as they began to chant “Fire Hakstol!” The chants grew louder as the night grew on and it did not go unnoticed by those down at ice level.
“They can chant whatever they want. We’re in this together; we’re all in the same boat here,’’ captain Claude Giroux said about the chant, per Sam Donnellon. “It’s not on him. It’s on everybody.”
Much to his credit, Dave Hakstol has handled this situation with the press with some class in what has to be a miserable time in his career.
“If you don’t want to be in this spot, that’s a choice,’’ said Hakstol. “That’s how I react to it. There’s high expectations in this market and we have maybe the best fans in the National Hockey League and they’re full of value for having expectations. Nobody said that’s going to be easy. You better be able to stand up and handle that.”
What do you think the problem is? Is Hakstol not getting enough out of the talent or does he not have enough talent to work with?
