After making a splash the last couple of years with trades and big free agent signings, Philadelphia Flyers' general manager Chuck Fletcher has been pretty quiet this offseason.
He was forced to make a move when Matt Niskanen announced his surprise retirement.
Fletcher re-signed Justin Braun and brought in Erik Gustafsson but you could argue that there's still a big hole that needs to be filled with Niskanen leaving.
The Flyers' GM is aware and still looking at two specific defensemen, Sami Vatanen and Travis Hamonic.
“We’re still actively talking to teams to see what may be out there,” he said “We do have a little cap space left. We can certainly start the year the way we are now, but if there’s a way to improve our team, we’ll continue to work that way.”
The Flyers still have $4.8million in cap space with just Phillippe Myers to sign.
Would you like to see Vatanen or Hamonic on a cheap type contract?
