Yesterday to the surprise of Philadelphia Flyers' fans, the team fired general manager Ron Hextall.
After all is said and done, it's been confirmed by Paul Holmgren that Hextall was fired for his lack of action, lack of making any big moves to right the ship.
While they didn't acknowledge it specifically, rumblings have been strong that Hextall was fired for his refusal to fire head coach Dave Hakstol.
With Hakstol still employed, Holmgren wouldn't speak on his job security specifically, however Dave Isaac says he gave a pretty big clue.
According to Isaac, Holmgren stated that Hakstol is in an awkward situation and the next GM will choose his coach, Isaac added that it felt like Hakstol's time was over.
Twice Holmgren said he would “kick the can down the road” and have the next general manager decide Hakstol’s fate.
