The Philadelphia Flyers losing streak has reached seven games after their 5-4 overtime loss to the New York Islanders on Friday. The Flyers held a 4-2 lead after the second period, but were unable to make it stick as they continue to slide down the Eastern Conference standings.
However, there was some good news to come out of the loss. Captain Claude Giroux became just the 10th player in franchise history to score 600 points with his goal and assist in the Flyers four goal period.
Giroux scored the first goal of the period by blasting a one-timer past Thomas Greiss for this 10th goal of the year. Later in the period, he had the secondary assist on Sean Courturier’s 13th goal of the year for his 600th career point.
Giroux will be able to climb out the Flyers all-time scoring list rather quickly as he is now just one point behind Rod Brind’Amour for ninth in career points.
