The Philadelphia Flyers will not see defenseman Radko Gudas back on the ice until December 12 after he was hit with 10-game suspension for his slash to the head of Winnipeg Jets forward Mathieu Perreault.
Once an in-person hearing was scheduled, we knew that his suspension would be greater than five games due to the nature of his actions and that he is also a “repeat offender.” Not sure if there were many who though he would get a 10-game ban, including Gudas himself.
The suspension was a hot topic of discussion after the Flyers morning skate today that Gudas was a part of as he is allowed to practice with the team while he sits out.
“I was surprised. I didn’t expect that,” Gudas said, per philly.com. “I mean, I don’t agree with it, but I accept their decision.”
Forward Wayne Simmonds was not a fan of the ruling and it sounds like he shares the feeling of everyone else in the building today.
“I don’t think anyone in here agrees with it,” he said, “but what are you going to do?”
Gudas has not filed an appeal of the decision and there has been no word that he plans to do so. Do you agree with the length of the suspension?
