With news of Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas getting a 10 game suspension, the team was forced to make some space on Monday morning.
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports that forward Matt Read has once again been placed on waivers.
The 31 year old will never be the player he once was, scoring 20 goals with the Flyers twice during his career, but some will argue that he's a way better option on than Dale Weise or Jori Lehtera up front.
It's likely that the team will look to get either Samuel Morin or Mike Vecchione in a uniform as soon as possible.
Back to Read, Friedman also confirmed that he wasn't placed on waivers for purpose of a buyout. Read will report to Leigh Valley where he's already played five games this year, scoring one goal in five games.
Defenseman Andrew MacDonald is also nearing a return from injury and could even possibly play as early as Tuesday.
Read (PHI) on waivers, VAN already announced Rodin is there, too. Purpose of terminating contract.— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) November 20, 2017
