The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are set to return to the American Hockey League postseason for the first time since 2009 when they host the Hershey Bears on Friday night.

We learned last week that goaltender Anthony Stolarz’s season is over as Phantoms’ head coach Scott Gordon confirmed that his lower-body injury will keep him out of action for three to four months.  Rookie Alex Lyon, who had 27 wins with a .912 save percentage in the regular season, will step in to the number one goalie spot for the playoffs.

On Saturday, we found out that 2016 second-round pick Carter Hart will take Stolarz’s spot on the roster and backup Lyon to start the Calder Cup playoffs.

Hart played in 54 games for the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League this year, posting a 1.99 goals against average and a .927 save percentage.  He was also the starting goaltender for Team Canada at the World Junior Championship this past winter where he lost the gold medal game in a shootout to Team USA.

Welcome to the Flyers organizations, Carter!
