The Philadelphia Flyers had numerous heroes during their run to the 2010 Stanley Cup Final and seven years ago today, four of them had big nights in a victory over the Montreal Canadiens in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Daniel Briere got the sold old Wachovia Center crowd rocking early with a power play goal just 4:16 into the first period. Claude Giroux and Kimmo Timonen picked up the assists on Briere’s ninth goal of the postseason.

The power play struck again late in the second period, this time it was Simon Gagne’s sixth playoff goal with helpers from Ville Leino and Mike Richards.

Leino’s third goal of the spring iced the game midway through the third period. Lukas Krajicek and Chris Pronger picked up the assists on the final goal of the night.

Goaltender Michael Leighton made 30 saves for his second straight shutout versus the Canadiens. He would pick up a third shutout in a Game 4 victory to give the Flyers a 3-1 series lead. In fact, Leighton only gave seven total goals in the five-game series and five of those game in a 5-1 Game 3 loss.
