Travis Konecny Takes The Blame For Monday's Loss

Travis Konecny had himself quite the evening during the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night.

The rookie forward scored his first of two goals on the night to get the Flyers on the board late in the first period as he was set up nicely by Shayne Gostisbhere to rip a wrist shot past Sergei Bobrovsky.

His 10thgoal on the season came on the power play and gave the Flyers a 3-2 just over 11 minutes into the second period. Konecny showed off his speed by wheeling around the zone before potting his second tally of the game.

Instead of patting himself on the back after the game for his two goals, Konecny beat himself up for his third period penalty. Konecny was given a roughing minor for getting a bit too physical with Oliver Bjorkstand on his way to the bench at 7:20 of the third period and just over a minute later Brandon Dubinsky score the eventual game winning goal.

"Yeah, that's kind of the only thing on my mind right now," Konecny said of his actions, per CSN Philly. "I kind of let the game get to me and I was in the mix a lot tonight.

"And for whatever reason, I decided to bump the guy on my way back to the bench and they thought it was a penalty. It's a stupid penalty by me and honestly I put the game in my hands there, it's unacceptable."

The special teams as a whole were a major letdown on Monday night as the penalty kill couldn’t come up with a big stop when they needed it most and the power play only providing one goal on eight chances.
